One example of a USS Zippo is the USS Caloosahatchee. This particular design is masterfully-crafted. The front face of the chrome lighter has a very detailed illustration of the Navy liner. It is detailed down to the minutest details. The back face of the lighter has an inscription that reads, Built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp Sparrows Point MD Keel laid 30 Nov 1944 Launched 2 June 1945 Commissioned 10 October 1945. This particular design details both the image of the liner and its history very well.

The USS Missouri Surrender Zippo not only illustrates the facade of the USS Missouri, but also replicates the plaque that declared the Japanese surrender to the Missouri in 1945. Heavily walled armor is often the description of the great Zippo lighter since all you will find is 1.5 times the thickness of the standard Zippo Lighter. It was crafted in a way that even a stray bullet may find its resting place – in between the body of the lighter itself. Although safety aside, it might just blow up first but nevertheless, that is how thick the Armor Zippo is.

Aside from the markings that were mentioned, there should be a sign that says it was made in Bradford, Pennsylvania. If you could not find one or found another type of marking on the lighter, then it still is a true Zippo lighter since Niagara Falls is the only other place where these lighters are assembled and made from. To be able to spot a true Armor Zippo, you have to bring it upside down to see that name of excellence that is was indeed made by Zippo and of course, made in the USA.

As the blue Navy Zippo is the most common, there are also other variant. One such example is the Zippo Navy Anchor. This one has a more classic look, retaining its original chrome color, focusing attention to the embossed gold anchor in the middle of the body. The acronym "USN" is laid on top of the anchor.

Another variant of the Navy Zippo is the Cartoon Bull Zippo. This one also retains its original chrome color, but has a cartoon bull with a Navy had painted in the body. The bull is surrounded by two Navy crests and is ready to charge.

Getting one of these lighters would be a good show of faith for the United States Navy troops. Especially at times of war, a simple gesture of support, such as getting yourself a US Navy Zippo, is the least you could do to encourage our troops around the world.
