The Winston Zippo was apparently designed to promote the Winston Cup which is sponsored by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, who is also responsible in producing cigarette brands like Camel, Salem, etc. Although cigarette smoking and lighters are connected, it does not follow that only smokers collect this particular item. Non-smokers who are fond of collecting event memorabilia would certainly want this Zippo lighter added to their collection.

Genuine pieces of this specific lighter are in bright chrome finish and the bottom part should read XII, made in the year 1995. At the top portion of the lighter’s body, 25 years is etched plus the Winston Eagle and at the lower part, there should be the Winston Cup’s logo bearing the crossed flags.

Usually if the lighter hasn’t been used or fueled, the value is higher. Some collectors would even want their items packed with their original Zippo plastic display casing.

Camel Zippo lighters have come out with hundreds of designs, most of which have been associated with various Camel Cigarettes’ events and advertising. Some have been used to partner with the Camel Trophy Competition and the Camel Pool League.

Most items in this collection are no longer readily available in the regular shops and online stores. These funky pieces of memorabilia are now specialty Zippo lighters and traded or bought as a collection item and not just as a mere lighter.

The earlier designs of Camel lighters cannot be directly bought by money. Rather, they can be purchased using the C-note, a yellow piece of paper found in Camel cigarette packs. They were considered to be the “currency” used to buy the Camel-inspired Zippo lighters.

Many collectors and enthusiasts have attempted to compile all the Camel designs that Zippo came out with. The most notable of all was R.J. Reynolds. His complete work can be found in the guide-book “Camel Zippo Collectors’ Guides”. Other popular guides were written by Brian Sipes and Len Shorter. A number of websites are also dedicated to the discussion of and display of the many models brought out by Zippo.

Because of the renowned place of Camel cigarettes in pop culture, these Camel Zippo lighters are treated more as collection items and important pieces of history.
